The Android Market was recently become part of the Google Play Store. So, stop yanking “I can’t find my Android market” and start installing Google Play instead so you can download your favorite apps and do more with your device.
Download Google Play
There could only be one limitation that would keep you from being able to download Google Play. That is if your device is not capable. However, this is hardly possible with the latest units released onto the market. Most of them already have Google Play while others allow to download the service and make it your #1 Android market. Some Android phones and tablets may have access to other Android markets. There is nothing wrong with that. But to be on the safe side, it is better to have Google Play on board. Here’s how:
Step 1: Root your tablet. You have to confirm that your Android device has a low level of security since some apps require root access. If your device is not yet rooted, start the process now.
Step 2: Run your browser. No matter which browser you have, whether you have Google or whatever, you have to run it so you can get to the site that offers Google Play for download.
Step 3: Install Google Play. Enable updates so every time you refresh or restart your unit, it will be able to receive updates of the latest version.
Step 4: When you click on the Google Play app, you will be treated to a wide variety of applications – both free and paid for – that you can download to your device.
Step 5: If you want an alternative Android market, search for “non-market apps for Android” on your browser and see if the selection you will find is anything more interesting than what Google Play can offer. In the same way, Amazon also offers an app store for Android. You might want to check on it as well.
Find Exciting Apps
Once you have an Android market on, it is time to start shopping. Shopping for apps is truly exciting. It will open your mind to countless applications that are there for every kind of purpose from entertainment to providing information to making your daily tasks easier.
If you are struggling to find the coolest apps or you are somewhat lost in your way through them, take note of the following tips:
Tip #1:
Make use of the “Search” bar. If you have heard about one cool app and you want it on your device, too, the best way to get it is to make a search for it using the search tool. Type in the app title or as much as you can remember about the app and what it does and hit enter. You will be treated to different choices, one being the exact fit to what you are looking for.
Tip #2:
Go for category searches. Apps are classified into different categories. You can find the coolest app in the bunch by making a search for the particular category they might be included in. If you are looking for a Cardio Trainer app, for example, you can search by entering the words “fitness training”, “cardio”, or “workout” at the bar and then hitting enter.
Tip #3:
Go for the apps on the main screen. When you launch the Android market, there are a bunch of apps that you will find on display at the home page. They are mostly featured apps that you can consider having, according to your needs and preference. Featured apps are those apps that get a lot of clicks or downloads on a daily basis. Sometimes, they are apps that the particular Android market chooses to promote.
There are a wide variety of Android apps available at the market. You can frequent forums and discussions to get a better idea what other users are saying about one particular app you are eyeing to have or to just even have idea which apps make the “cool” cut. With all the choices available, it can be a bit overwhelming which ones are worth installing. So it is nice if you have an insight courtesy of those that have used them. It will also help you become comfortable about finding the apps that suit your purpose best if you browse the market and see what’s out there, really.
